Baseball Spring Training
End of February means it is baseball spring
training time. Our “stay warm” tour of FL was designed to have us near
Kissimmee, FL the last week of February for Kris to do a bucket list item of
going to an Atlanta Braves spring training game. We got tickets behind home
plate, upper level. The game seemed more of a try out effort as they used lots
of folks from the roster, many from the minor league affiliates. It was a fun
day in sunny and warm central FL.
After the baseball game, we hung out in the parking lot for
about 20 minutes till most everyone had left the parking lot. Maneuvering
Sprinty in traffic is a bit nerve wracking, and to do it when hundreds are
impatient to leave is a recipe for a road rage incident.
We then meandered northwest to Bushnell, FL where we stayed
at Sumter Oaks RV Park, an Escapees owned and operated RV Park, one of seven in
the US. As Escapees members, we stayed for $22/night with FHU. Awesome.
On Thursday, we went to the Ocala RV Show at the Florida
Horse Park in Ocala. We looked at the various Class Bs on display, a few Cs and
a couple Class As. Did not see anything we liked more than Sprinty.
We continued north on blue highways to Hutch Gibson Park
near Jasper, FL. A small county park that had about 6 or 7 RV parking spots.
With my veteran discount, it was $11. The facilities were somewhat run down,
but it was quiet, and located on the famous Swanee River. As we pulled in, so
did another Class B from Ontario.
