Planning on a Day-by-Day Basis
Yesterday, we woke up to 41 degrees. Ran the Alde heater
which worked great. Put on socks and shoes for the first time in weeks. For
weeks, we enjoyed waking up and dressing in shorts, tee shirts, and Keen shoes
since early February.
That said, the weather was said to be warmer than normal for
this time of year.
Nonetheless, a reminder we’re not in Kansas, errr Florida
anymore.
Once we left
Lake Kissimmee State Park, we were planning on a day-by-day basis. We did call
Sanlan (Tues night) mid-day Tuesday to verify they had a spot for us. Also
Sumter Oaks on Wednesday. For Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, we decided
to wing it, knowing that Friday and Saturday might be challenging. However, GA
would not let use reserve a site for only one night on the weekend - they had a
two-night minimum. Friday and Saturday nights were near full, but they were able
to fit us in.
Photo is of our site near the river at High Falls State Park
on Saturday night.
Sunday had us going to the Tiny House Festival at the
Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA. The event was being held in the infield
of the Speedway. And parking was in the infield. In the background, you can see
the West grandstand on the other side of the track.
Sprinty was not allowed to take a lap. Just as well as there
were several cars practicing, and Sprinty has a speed governor of 84 mph. Would
have drawn the yellow caution flag for sure.
The HIGHLIGHT of the Tiny House Festival was to meet Mandy
Lea (https://mandyleaphoto.com) and her partner Kendrick in person. We have
been following them on Facebook and YouTube since last summer. They live
full-time in a NuCamp T@B teardrop trailer like the one behind us in the photo.
Both were as nice and gracious in person as we hoped they would be.
If you would like to learn more about the epic hike Mandy
Lea and Kendrick (the couple we went to the Tiny House Festival to meet) did in
the Grand Canyon last month, here is a link to Part 1 of their VLOG on the
adventure:
BTW - Mandy and Kendrick live full-time in a T@B teardrop
trailer.
