Tallulah Gorge State Park
Started out on our way to a Roadtrek Rally, a
gathering of other Roadtrek owners, in Dillard, GA. The rally starts tomorrow,
and we are staying at Tallulah Gorge State Park for the night. Checking was at
the park Interpretative Center, where Ranger Julie got us all set up. We
learned the state park did not come about until early 1990s, and that the area
has been a significant tourist destination since the 1800s. Great video (and
free) about the gorge.
After getting Sprinty set up, took a trip down memory lane. Since we last visited the area (1983 we think), US441 has been widened, and straightened. We passed signs to Panther Creek Trail, where we backpacked one weekend when we were dating. And taking GA15 Loop, we passed the small shops on the rim overlooking the gorge. Brought back lots of memories.
