Headed to Ohio
After 2.5 weeks of rest, with rain most days, Sprinty was
ready to roll again. If for no other reason than to shake the oak tassels off
(Spring arrives late in Western Maryland). This week, we head back to Ohio,
which is a trip we did last year. Kris was sick for the first part of that trip
with a really bad cold, so she mostly experienced eastern Ohio from a nap
position in Sprinty.
Headed out this morning for Green Hills Country Club located
outside of Fairmont, WV. Although the course was rather damp, we enjoyed the
day on the course. The staff was very nice and went the extra mile to make our
round enjoyable.
Darrell had to buy which raised an interesting challenge.
The closest Starbucks was in Clarksburg, WV. And no other Starbucks along the
route for a couple of days.
Attentive Sprinty Chronicles readers will recall that the
two Mercedes Benz related issues we have had with Sprinty occurred in the
vicinity of Clarksburg, WV.
Hoping that those two episodes were coincidence, not
causation, Darrell adopted that like from the Audi commercial “I’ll take my
chances”, hoped to avoid the Sprinty urgent care in Parkersburg, WV, and off to
Clarksburg we went for Darrell to pay up.
As Starbucks would probably frown on Sprinty enjoying a cold one with Kris and Darrell, Lookout and Echo decided to chaperone the golfers in consuming their Frappuccinos.
With plenty of daylight, we headed for Leith Run Recreation Area, Wayne National Forest, a campground we stayed at last year right on the Ohio River. Upon arrival, we found the campground closed, despite our go-to campground app, AllStays, indicating the campground opened in April. As did the web site.
So much for Plan A. Plan B was to stay at Washington County
Fairgrounds, Marietta, OH. Upon arrival, we found it to be really basic, no
bath house open, and pricey ($35). So on to Plan C, Marietta RV Park located a
couple blocks away. Also no bath house, but less expensive and full hookups. We
got one of the last two sites, the owner was very nice and told us about the
bike path nearby. So we rode our bikes down the path to the town of Marietta,
and through the downtown area.
