RV-Golf Trip with Canton Friends

Last Saturday our Canton friends arrived at Deep Creek Lake to visit. They are on their maiden RV trip, having left home 3 weeks ago to visit family in Colorado. Sprinty followers may remember our trip to Alabama in March to help them buy it.  So, they are visiting on their way back home. Activities have included golf (duh), hiking at Swallow Falls SP, watching whitewater rafting and hanging out. As they could not get campground reservations for the weekend, Sprinty thought it would be fun to do a buddy trip.  So, we set up a play date with Ole Blue (their RV) at Laurel Hill SP in the Laurel Highlands region of PA.

Laurel Hill SP had a few electric sites in the pet loop, so Sprinty and Ole Blue got settled in to nearby sites.

After getting Ole Blue (with their dog Penny settled), Matt & Lori rode with us in Sprinty to Falling Water, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic masterpieces. A very nice tour of the house and its history.

Upon returning to Laurel Hill SP, Darrell & Kris wandered to the visitor center/gift shop where they learned about the history of the park, including the contributions of the Civilian Conservation Corps to the building of numerous state parks around the country. What a major impact the program had to reclaiming lands that had been worn out from prior farming practices, and conserving the resource for future generations to enjoy, as we are this weekend. As you explore the grandeur of our nation, do take a few moments to appreciate the vision and hard work of so many to make it possible for us to enjoy today, and for future generations to enjoy.
