Short trip to Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands Area

Last week, Sprinty overheard Darrell say something about wanting to play some different golf courses. Sprinty, having had to stay parked for over 4 whole weeks and was itching for a road trip. So Sprinty suggested a short trip to Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands Area, which had a couple of state park campgrounds and several golf courses in pretty close proximity. So this morning, we meandered up some blue highways to Donegal, PA to play Donegal Highlands Golf Course. It was ranked as a 4 Star Course by Golf Digest. Darrell got off to a hot start, 4 over par on the front 9; Kris got focused and showed Darrell how to drive narrow fairways on the back 9, shooting 2 over par. Kris consoled Darrell by buying the frappe afterwards.

Tonight, we are staying at Kooser State Park, located adjacent to Hidden Valley Resort, a popular ski resort in the winter. Handy as it is all of 7 miles from Donegal, and 12 miles from Somerset, where we plan to play golf tomorrow. A small campground, they were nearly empty. We opted for a non-electric site as the weather is cool enough to not need a/c. Saved a few bucks and our site is in the shade, and somewhat secluded.

There is a Sprinty in this photo somewhere.

Sprinty is trying out the improvements Darrell added since the last trip:

(1) a mid-track door stop so we did not have to open the sliding door all the way every time - we now have a halfway open stop

(2) mosquito netting for the sliding door. A creative adaption of a double door screen at 1/10th the cost of a ready-made screen.

(3) mosquito netting for the driver and passenger doors

(4) no-see-um screens on the side windows. Not that we have had an issue with those little pests - but we will likely appreciate this upgrade before long
