Brunswick Plantation day

We woke up to 60 degrees outside, which was about 10 degrees higher than we expected from the weather forecast.  After breakfast, when the sun came up, the wind picked up, and the temperature had dropped 5 degrees.  By the time we left to play golf, it was 10 degrees cooler, with a very brisk, gusty wind.  More wind than we would go sailing in.

Undeterred, we bundled up and made our way to Brunswick Plantation to play golf.  They were not too busy so they could get us on, even though it was a Sunday.  Perhaps some of the regulars were waiting until it warmed up.

Darrell parred the second hole to take a one shot lead.  Kris parred the fourth to take a one shot lead.  We finished the first nine holes tied.  For 6 holes, we were neck-and-neck, then Kris birdied the last par 3, and cruised to a four shot lead.  It did not help Darrell that his golf ball decided to hit the beach (sand traps) on 6 of the 18 holes.

After golf, we went by our lot to see if we had storm cleanup to do.  We were pleasantly surprised to find on,y one limb down, which we promptly broke into three pieces and put out for the debris removal folks.  Waa Hoo!

Of course, Darrell decided the least Kris could do was pay up, so off we trekked to North Myrtle Beach, the location of the closest Starbucks.  So we thought.  We pulled into the parking lot only to discover they were closed for renovation.  Yuck poo.  With no good Starbucks options nearby, Darrell settled for a frappe from McDonalds.

Continuing our pizza-for-Sunday-dinner tradition, we invited former Soleil friends, George and Sharron to join us at Tony’s Pizza in Calabash, NC.  They moved to Little River, SC a few years ago, and are avid golfers.  We enjoyed catching up with them over pizza - we had lot to talk about since the last time we saw them about 2 years ago.
