Cumberland Mountain State Park - again

Woke up to 37 degrees, colder than the forecasts we have been watching.  Thrilled that our insulation efforts seem to be working - Sprinty took 5.5 hours to cool 5 degrees last night after the thermostat setback kicked in at 9:30pm.  That means the heat did not run most of the night.  What a difference.

With the time change to Central Time, we all had the opportunity to sleep in an extra hour.  Interestingly, Darrell was the one up early, while Kris uncharacteristically slept in.

Once again, we had a short 5 minute drive to the Bear Trace at Cumberland Mountain golf course, part of the Tennessee Golf Trail, and another Jack Nicklaus signature courses.  When we arrived, the parking lot was full.  There was a large men’s group scheduled to play at 8am.  When we checked in, they advised of a frost delay, and said it could be an hour later than our scheduled tee time.

So we hung out while Matt worked to change the plan.  Based on the weather forecast of Thursday where we had planned to be, we decided to play golf near Crossville, and stay at Cumberland Mountain State Park for a second night.  Matt took care of the extension and cancellation of the reservation he had made for the both of us at Cedars of Lebanon State Park near Nashville.

We warmed up on the range, then got called to tee off about half hour later than scheduled - so the delays was not as long as expected.

The course was nice.  It obviously gets more play than the course we played yesterday, and either got more rain or does not drain as well.  Overall, by the time we were halfway through the course, we decided not to play it again tomorrow, as was the thought at 8am this morning.  Darrell led by two strokes after 9 holes, and as Kris often does when she gets determined, she was two strokes up on the back nine, so we finished the day with a tie.

After golf, we headed back to camp and made a fire.  A first for us since we adopted Sprinty.  We sat around the fire in the cool afternoon/evening, even eating dinner by the fire.  Reviewing the weather forecasts for the Nashville area (where we still had a reservation for Wednesday night), we saw that they will be under a flash flood warning Wednesday night/Thursday.  Time to change the plan again.
