Cumberland Mountain State Park

Staying at Harrison Bay State Park was more than just picking a beautiful campground.  Also park of the state park is one of the golf courses that make up the Tennessee Golf Trail.   The course is Bear Trace at Harrison Bay, a Jack Nicholas signature course.

We awoke to chilly temperatures, with sun and light breeze forecast.  Being only 5 minutes from the campground meant we did not have to get up early.

We enjoyed the rate to play golf, and that there were few people out early.  After warming up, we tee-ed off.  The fairways were well maintained and had been blown clear of leaves.  The greens were very nice and very fast.

Alas, having taken 4 days off from playing due to weather and traveling, our game was not what we thought we were capable of.  But we enjoyed a very nice course in a beautiful setting.  12 of the 18 holes had views of the water.  Darrell managed to earn the privilege of buying - perhaps it was the lone birdie he made that made the difference.

After golf, we headed towards Crossville, TN to Cumberland Mountain State Park.  After getting checked in, we went to our reserved sites, only to find them quite sloped.  We were okay, but Matt & Lori needed all their leveling blocks plus borrowed sets.  Fortunately two more level sites were vacant a few sites down, so we arranged to move.

Dinner was quiche that Kris made, shared at the picnic table between our two sites.  A cool dinner literally - it was 57 degrees at dinner time, heading to a low of 42 degrees tonight.
