Harrison Bay State Park
Today was a bit of a surprise. Last night the weather forecast was for cloudy, breezy weather with temperatures in the mid-40s with slow warming. Facing 4 hours of driving to our destination, we decided before going to bed not to try and fit golf in.
Here is a photo from last nights site at David Crockett Birthplace State Park campground:
When we awoke should have been our first clue - the temperature was 50 degrees. And then the sun came up. But we had already resigned to no golf, so we enjoyed a sunny, breezy (at least they got that part right) and warmer than expected drive. We chose to avoid the interstates and benefitted from very light traffic except around Sevierville, TN. We could have missed some of that traffic if we had not stopped at the Columbia store in Sevierville, or picked up a treat at Starbucks.
We saw this sign in the window of a shop near the Columbia store:

We arrived at Harrison Bay State Park about 2:30, and got checked in. We got Sprinty settled in the beautiful waterfront site Matt had reserved.
As Matt and Lori were on their way, we enjoyed a nice walk through the four campground loops. Darrell made a repeat stop at the park office to purchase a bald eagle for Sprinty, joining the panda and dolphin that have been Sprinty’s playmates.
Then we relaxed in our chairs overlooking the lake.
Just before 4pm, Matt, Lori, Penny (their fur baby) arrived in Ol’ Blue.
After they got settled, we set up chairs and admired the beautiful lake view. Matt and Lori had picked up pizza for dinner on the way in so as to fit into our Sunday dinner pizza tradition. We enjoyed pizza and salad at the picnic table.
