Farewell Quartzsite

Monday, 28 January

Quartzsite is starting to wind down.  One of the first indicators was improved cell service.  Verizon cell service has been nearly unusable for the last two weeks, while AT&T and T-Mobile were only moderately usable.  Usually late afternoon and evening are the worst.  Yesterday evening, Verizon was noticeable better.  And today, all are better.

This morning, there were lots of RVs at the Pit Stop across the road dumping their tanks.  The Pit Stop is a pit stop for RVs - a place to get propane, fresh water (filtered well water or reverse-osmosis (salt-free)), and dump tanks.  With several lines, they typically have 20 or more RVs in the place.

And lots and lots of RVs on the move.  We are already seeing vacant sites at the RV parks.

We spent the day getting ready to continue on ourselves.  While in Yuma, we filled the fresh water tank.  Today, we topped off the propane tank with 3.4 gallons of propane used since we last filled on 9 January.  We also dumped the black and gray tanks.  We got some exercise by walking down to the vendors on Kuehn Road to pick up a couple of things.

We enjoyed lunch at Bad Boys Cafe, where they serve breakfast all day.  We enjoyed a mushroom omelet - so glad we split it as it was enough food to feed three people.

While walking to the cafe, a lady across the street yelled out at us.  Turns out it was Kitty, a lady we met at the OOBerFest on the live music night.

And the mail we had sent from Green Cove Springs arrived today.  Tomorrow Sprinty closes this Quartzsite chapter and resumes adventuring.  Stay tuned for what he is up to next.  Spoiler alert - it should not involve the latest polar vortex.

Here is an aerial photo of the Montana 5th wheels circled up at Plomosa Road BLM area.  Recall we took a photo of the gathered Montana 5th wheels about 10 days ago from the ground.  Maybe Sprinty needs his own drone?
