Canyon Lake, TX, Family Wedding

Tuesday, 5 November to Friday, 8 November

Sprinty had a few days off while Kris and Darrell visited with Kris' sister and her husband Forrest in Humble, TX. On Wednesday, Kris and Darrell played Atascocita Golf Club located a few blocks away. Almost shot for shot, we stayed neck and neck, making the turn tied up. The back nine was similar. One of us would go up by a stroke only to lose the advantage on the next hole or two. Neck and neck, we played to a tie. It was fun to both play well and tie for the day.

Kris' brother, Frank, arrived on Thursday. It rained most of the day, so a pretty lazy day inside.

On Friday, we headed for Canyon Lake, TX, four hours west, between Austin and San Antonio. Sprinty visited there last year as he made his way to Arizona. Sprinty picked the Army/Air Force FamCamp at Canyon Lake to stay, the same place as he stayed last year.

Saturday, 9 November

On Saturday, the family plans were very casual, so Kris and Darrell took advantage of good weather to play golf at The Club at Rebecca Creek in Spring Branch, TX, about 30 minutes from the campground. We were fortunate to get an early start before the normal weekend golfers, and played at our pace. We both started okay, but Kris' birdies on the second and fourth hole put her on top at the turn. Darrell seemed to spend too much time having to recover from the trees - which he did pretty well. Darrell's putting got better, but Kris continued to play well and took honors on the day with a score of 80.

The wedding was very nice, held in the late afternoon outside at Canyon Lake Cabins and Cottages, Canyon Lake, TX. Fortunately, the weather was perfect - warm, but not hot, sunny, slight breeze. The family asked we not take pictures of the ceremony, so we got a photo of the happy couple, Kristi NE Jasper, at the reception.

Kris and Darrell kept Sprinty out later than usual as they enjoyed the reception. The groom is a former radio DJ, and does DJing with his brothers for various events on a regular basis. They set up karaoke, and the guests had a fine time singing and dancing.
